About the Seal

The UMC Family Medicine logo, adopted in 2003, depicts the UMC family doctor as Five Star Physician. Patterned after the "Profile of the Five Star Doctor" first described by Charles Boelen of the World Health Organization in 2000, the five stars stand for the legendary 5 C's (characteristics) of the classic family physician that we train at UMC : Compassionate, Comprehensive, Competent, Community-Oriented, and Continuity-Based.
