Research Division

The purpose of the Research Division is to provide methodological and statistical support to faculty and residents who wish to engage in research. The scholarly activities of the faculty include conference presentations, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and membership on editorial boards of various journals. The Department of Family Medicine has summer research fellowships available for medical students who have completed their first year of medical school. These fellowships allow the students to engage in research in Family Medicine and to learn more about the practice of Family Medicine. Applications may be made with Student Programs (984-5422) during the winter.

Clinical Problem-Solving Series:

Clinical Problem-Solving is a monthly feature of the Journal of the Mississippi State Medical Association.  Clinical Problem-Solving manuscripts are case-based and portry the sequential process of clinical decision-making when the physician is faced with a diagnostic dilemma.  The series is presented and edited by the Department of Family Medicine.  All PGY-3 residents are required to publish a manuscript in the series.
