In Patient Orders

During the academic year 2002-2003, UMC faculty and residents collaborated with the subspecialty medical staff and administration of MBMC to develop Evidence Based Family Medicine Admission Protocols/Pathways for our Top 20 DRG diagnoses. EBFM Admission Protocols now exist for the following conditions:

Chest Pain
Myocardial Infarction
Acute Coronary Syndrome
Congestive Heart Failure
COPD
Asthma
Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Upper GI Bleed
Lower GI Bleed
HIV/AIDS
Pancreatitis
Community Acquired Pneumonia
Seizures
Sickle Cell Anemia
Acute Management of Stroke
Syncope
Pediatric Asthma
Pediatric Bronchiolotis
Pediatric Gastroenteritis
Pediatric Pneumonia

These protocols are updated quarterly as new evidence emerges supporting improved clinical methodology. Each resident receives a notebook of Admission Protocols containing the Admission Orders and the accompanying sentinel article from which the protocols were developed. These protocols may be accessed through UMC’s E- Learning link.
