Evidence Based Family Medicine for Mississippi

The Department of Family Medicine Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center was the first (and remains the only!) community-based residency program at the Medical Center. Established in 1973, the Department of Family Medicine has grown from a 4-4-4 position program with 5 faculty into a 10-10-10 program with 19 fulltime faculty members. More than 3000 medical students have rotated through the department, and the residency program, fully accredited since its beginning, boasts 324 graduates, the majority of whom practice in rural underserved areas.
